Developing ‘X3D Earth’, that is the standards-based 3D visualization infrastructure for all manner of real-world objects and information constructs in a geospatial context (http://www.web3d.org/x3d-earth). Contributed to standardization activities of Web3D Consortium as a consortium member with prof. Don Brutzman who is a co-chair of the X3D Earth work group of the Web3D Consortium.
Developed a multi-resolution X3D geospatial component terrain tile set generator that is being used for the server-side code base of prototype X3D Earth globe implementation, the first X3D Earth web service, several X3D Earth globe implementation including terrain and bathymetry, and a geospatial content creation framework using X3D geospatial component.
Established collaborative research environment with NPS, Web3D Consortium and KAIST for X3D interoperability in various fields include CAD and 3D GIS.
